Fellowship

Brisbane from apartment block

I took the time to research which fellowships would meet my requirements. Contact those you wish to apply for well in advance (more than 2 years) to ask questions and express your interest. I included a formal letter and my CV when expressing my interest. It is never too early to start developing contacts and building your CV.

I always knew I wanted to do a fellowship in Australia or New Zealand as I had worked in Australia as an SHO and many of my mentors underwent fellowships there and continuously talked about what a good experience it was.

The Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) website is a fantastic resource of accredited orthopaedic fellowships.

I was offered some fellowships straight up and underwent video call interviews for others.

I was fortunate enough to be offered the Peter Myers / Timothy McMeniman Brisbane Knee Fellowship commencing August 2021: https://www.bosmc.com.au/bosmc-fellowship

Once offered an Austrialian fellowship the AOA will assist you in the process of applying for VISAs and registration, their AOA fellowships officers are incredibly helpful.
